Community

Colony of Congo is built by a global community of artists, thinkers, and supporters committed to remembering, resisting, and reimagining. Each member is part of a collective story to reclaim history and imagine new futures for Africa and its diaspora.

Chalewote Festival meets Colony of Congo

Day three of the Chale Wote Street Art Festival 2025 opened as another feather in the cap of this year’s programme. The festival’s doors opened even wider to new voices and fresh perspectives. The day welcomed budding filmmakers, musicians, and beauticians into the spotlight, creating an intergenerational dialogue that wove together playfulness with politically and socially grounded themes.

Congo Week: Breaking the silence

October 19-25

Congo Week is an international week of events (usually in October) organized by Friends of the Congo, dedicated to raising global consciousness about the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo—its history, conflicts, resources, culture, and people. Since 2008, Congo Week has galvanized the participation of people in over 75 countries and 600 university campuses and communities. The purpose of Congo Week is to raise global consciousness about the situation in the Congo and advocate for peace, justice and human dignity in partnership with the Congolese people.
